In 1982, the team posted a comeback of sorts and was referred to as the ‘Cardiac Kids’ because of the way they kept winning their games in the final moments. But that would be their last big winning streak and the Buccaneers would hit a slump that would roughly last them until 1997.
The Dark Horse Of The Millennium
Even though fans were still buying Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets, they were certainly the last team anyone expected to enter the playoffs for the Super Bowl. But the Buccaneers did indeed make the playoffs, despite a number of problems they had with their offensive line up. After a number of changes were made, the Buccaneers shocked the football world in 2002 by snatching the Super Bowl.

Their offensive line up has been completely restructured and in combination with their already strong defensive line, the Buccaneers are certainly a force to contend with in football. In 2005, the team picked up a Division title and perhaps more importantly, was able to beat long time rivals the Saints and the Falcons.
Fans are hoping to see more of that great football action in the future. The Buccaneers are certainly the dark horses of the NFL and have emerged as a powerhouse in the new millennium. This is a big turnaround for a team that started out by losing the first 26 games of its career.
